Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team-oriented practice in Fort Wayne, IN. Our practice focuses on building long-lasting relationships with our patients. The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screenings, and conducting radiographic studies. The RDH also charts conditions of decay and disease and performs procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.
  • Detect disease by completing oral cancer screenings, feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease, and assessing levels of recession; exposing and developing radiographic studies.
  • Arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents.
  • Assist the dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drugs and oxygen supply, and a directory of emergency numbers.
  • Educate patients by providing oral hygiene and plaque control instructions, postoperative instructions, and reminders of the next dental hygiene visit.
  • Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories; charting in patient records.
  • Ensure the operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

 

Requirements:

  • License/Certification: Registered Dental Hygienist Required
  • CPR Certification
  • Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Certification
