About the Role
A premier dental laboratory in Houston is seeking a highly skilled Dental Ceramist to join their in-house team. This laboratory supports four in-house prosthodontists and collaborates with several local prosthodontic practices, focusing on high-end fixed prosthetic cases and hybrid dentures. The role is exclusively benchwork, with no managerial responsibilities, and emphasizes the artistry and precision of dental ceramics.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and finish high-end fixed prosthetic restorations including single crowns, bridges, and full-arch hybrid dentures.
- Apply advanced porcelain layering techniques to achieve natural aesthetics, anatomical accuracy, and long-term durability.
- Perform hand-layering, internal staining, and glaze processes with precision and consistency.
- Collaborate closely with prosthodontists and the clinical team to ensure restorations meet exact aesthetic, functional, and occlusal standards.
- Evaluate and adjust contacts, contours, and occlusion to ensure proper fit and patient comfort.
- Maintain case documentation and quality control standards throughout the ceramic production process.
- Frequently engage in chairside collaboration and case discussion with clinicians and patients, requiring a polished, professional demeanor.
- Stay updated on the latest ceramic materials, tools, and techniques relevant to high-end prosthodontic work.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on dental ceramics experience with an emphasis on aesthetic and functional restorations.
- Proven expertise in occlusion, full-mouth rehabilitation, and complex restorative cases.
- Exceptional skill in porcelain build-up, color matching, and achieving lifelike results.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective chairside interaction with clinicians and patients.
- Ability to interpret and execute detailed instructions from prosthodontists and clinicians.
- Must provide a portfolio of past work demonstrating technical and artistic abilities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
