Responsibilities
- Prepare plaster models and moulds
- Train and supervise other dental technicians or dental laboratory assistants
- Cast gold or metal alloys for bridges and denture bases
- Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory
- Design, fabricate or repair dental devices
- Mould wax over dentures set-up
- Finish metal framework of dentures
- Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays
- Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures
- Make orthodontic bands from metal and alloys
- Polish and buff dentures
- Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for use by denturists and dental technicians
- Re-line and re-base dentures
- Fit, adjust and repair dentures
- Design bridgework, fit dentures and provide appliances
- Construct dentures
- Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces
- Perform denture whitening and cleaning
- Prepare partial dentures
