Quality Control Laboratory Manager

Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Manager – Dental Laboratory 

Reports To: VP of Lab 

Job Summary: 

The Quality Control (QC) Manager is responsible for ensuring that all dental prosthetics and appliances produced in the laboratory meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, training staff, and conducting regular inspections and audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental technology, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of quality assurance practices. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Misc to include: 

o Complex case management 

2. Quality Control Management: 

o Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and standards.

o Conduct regular inspections and testing of dental products to ensure they meet specified quality standards. 

o Identify and address any quality issues or non-conformances in the production process. 

3. Compliance and Standards: 

o Ensure all products comply with industry regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO). 

o Keep up-to-date with changes in industry standards and regulations and implement necessary changes in the QC processes. 

o Maintain detailed records of quality control processes, inspections, and test results. 

4. Training and Development: 

o Train and mentor staff on quality control procedures and best practices.

o Develop training materials and conduct regular training sessions. 

o Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the laboratory.

5. Audits and Reporting: 

o Conduct internal audits of production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards. 

o Prepare and present regular quality control reports to management. 

o Coordinate and prepare for external audits and inspections. 

6. Problem Solving and Improvement: 

o Investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints related to product quality. 

o Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes of quality problems. 

o Work with production teams to improve processes and enhance product quality.

7. Documentation and Record Keeping: 

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of quality control procedures, inspections, and test results.

o Ensure all quality control documentation is properly stored and easily accessible for audits and inspections. 

Education: 

o Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Technology, Biology, or a related field. o Certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus.

Experience: 

o Minimum of 10 years of experience in a dental laboratory, with at least 2 years in a quality control role. 

o Experience in a managerial or supervisory role, preferred 

o Experience with regulatory compliance and quality assurance processes.

Skills and Abilities: 

o Strong knowledge of occlusion philosophy 

o Expert knowledge in all aspects of denture and hybrid fabrication including setting teeth, waxing, finishing, processing and digital design. 

o Strong knowledge of dental laboratory procedures and materials. 

o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

o Proficiency in quality control tools and techniques. 

o Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. 

o Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 

o Ability to train and mentor staff on quality control practices. 

Working Conditions: 

● Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday. 

● May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines and manage audits.

● Work is performed in a dental laboratory setting with exposure to various dental materials and equipment. 

Salary: 

● Range: $70,000-$100,000
